The North Ringwood Community House is located at the rear of 120 Oban Road, Ringwood North, within the grounds of the Holy Spirit Primary School. The community house, which began in 1975, was gifted the community building by a local family, with the parish providing the land within the primary school.
North Ringwood Community House provides opportunities for personal growth, skills development and social interaction. The house is also a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and includes accredited courses in Palliative Care and Aged and Disability Care.
The community house has grown steadily throughout the past 30 years but is unable to expand since it does not own the land it is situated on. Furthermore it is ineligible for capital works funding at both a local and state level since North Ringwood is the only community house in Maroondah that is not on council land.
Due to these constraints, the committee of management for North Ringwood Community House has resolved to undertake the works necessary to relocate to a new location. The Community House will be seeking grants to assist in undertaking a feasibility assessment to identify a preferred site for the community house.
The house is also encouraging the community to support the vision for a new community centre in Ringwood North. Community houses are a major part of a community’s spirit and as both the local councillor and a member of North Ringwood Community Houses’ committee of management I wholeheartedly support this campaign.
It is important that our community rallies behind the house to ensure that this vision becomes a reality. This project will require widespread support to demonstrate the crucial need for improved community facilities within Ringwood North.
