Why am I standing? Because I’m the only local candidate in Montague

I am the only candidate that lives locally in Montague Ward. Local government exists to represent local communities, only a Councillor that lives in the ward can genuinely represent the community they serve.

Back in 2010, I was one of Victoria’s youngest politically independent Mayors when I served as a Councillor for the City of Maroondah (2005-2012).

During this time, I restored the Council’s financial and environmental conduct so we could rebuild Ringwood and its civic spaces, delivering a safer train station, revitalised shopping precincts, and new housing.

Since moving to Port Phillip in 2013, I have secured upgraded bus frequencies and been involved in local business groups, advocating for safe, lively, and vibrant communities.

This year I worked alongside the community to successfully compel Council to recognise the importance of dogs by majorly improving its dog off-leash guidelines. Central to this effort was a community led petition of almost 2,500 signatures. The fact such a momentous community effort was required shows that Council has lost touch with the community it exists to serve.

I’m standing for Council because we need independent voices that cut through party politics. I have the passion, dedication and experience to represent you.
