The Artisan Market has returned to Bay Street and Port Melbourne and despite forecasts of inclement weather, the sun was shining down on Bay Street.
Not only was Bay Street abuzz with street vendors offering everything from chocolates, sops, pet treats, food and distilled spirits, but retailers and cafes along the street also benefited.
Bay Street has had a challenging year, and I am committed to working in partnership with traders and the community to focus on improving the amenity, safety and environs of Bay Street and Port Melbourne.
Part of this work will begin at Wednesday’s Council meeting, where a proposed motion will require Council to engage key community stakeholders and Victoria Police to identify best practice action on community safety and local amenity. This will be the first of many steps addressing a prominent community challenge
Today’s Artisan Market reinforced that if Bay Street can defy weather forecasts it can achieve anything.
